Disney Parks has just released a brand new mobile app to keep you entertained while you wait in line for attractions at the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort! The Play Disney Parks app was scheduled to be released this Saturday, June 30th, but it appears it has been released early. The app is free and you can download it now on the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).

The purpose of the app is to “turn wait time into play time.” This isn’t just an app for you to play with by yourself either! You’ll actually be able to play with everyone in your family while you wait in line. Currently, the experiences and activities are for select attraction queues, including: “Playset Party” at Toy Story Mania! in Disney California Adventure park and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, “Off to Neverland” at Peter Pan’s Flight at Disneyland park and Magic Kingdom, “Rocket Race” at Space Mountain at Disneyland park and Magic Kingdom, and “Andy’s Boardgame Blast!” at the new Slinky Dog Dash coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The app isn’t all just games though!

If you have a Disney account and are over the age of 13, you can also earn and share achievements, earn rewards for playing games, answer trivia questions, and complete challenges. With the Disney trivia feature, you’ll also be able to discover new facts about your favorite theme parks!

If you’re an Apple Music® subscriber, you’re in for even more fun! You’ll be able to listen to and celebrate Disney songs via the app. You can access Apple Music® from within the app to experience curated audio playlists inspired by the Disney parks! You’ll even be able to add your favorite selections to your library so you can re-live the magic again and again.

Of course, this is only the beginning. Just like anything else Disney does, I’m sure they will add and update the app with new games, experiences, and music. I’m especially interested to see what they do with the app once Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens (summer 2019 at the Disneyland Resort and late fall 2018 at the Walt Disney World Resort).

Overall, I think the app is a good idea. I see people playing games on their phones in line all the time, so it only makes sense for Disney to get involved as well. It’s also another great way to keep the Disney magic alive and keep you immersed in it.

What do you think of the app? Do you plan to download it and use it while you wait in line? Let me know!
