Kentucky Flyer Construction Update November 2018
Hey everyone; with temperatures dropping in most of the country a lot of people are bundling up and preparing for a long winter ahead. Despite snow and c0ld temperatures the crew at Kentucky Kingdom are in full force making sure their all new Gravity Group wooden coaster is ready for the 2019 season. Despite having complications on the project from the state fair board, the park has moved forward and started ground work for the new ride. This coaster will feature lots of airtime and set a beautiful backdrop for the waterparks wave pool. Anyways, check out these awesome photos shared with us from the park.

Most of the concrete has been poured and wood is starting to arrive on site. Pictured above is the far turnaround halfway through the ride.
Workers installing steel mounting brackets to secure the wood to the concrete. The next step will be placing the wooden structure that supports the track.
The airtime section behind the wave pool. Notice the pump and filtration systems on the backside of the wave pool service building. All land looks to be cleared and concrete about 85% of the way finished.
Close up view of the small steel brackets that secure the whole attraction to the ground. Without these the coaster would have no way to anchor into the soil.

It isn’t 100% accurate to the final ride but is close to what guests will experience. The attraction is set to open in spring of 2019 and be a wonderful new addition to Kentucky Kingdom. We can’t wait to ride and film some real POVs for you guys, so stay tuned for further updates regarding this awesome little coaster.
