Magic Kingdom Ride Closures Due to TRON Roller Coaster Construction Update December 2018
Hey Guys, recently Disney has been under many different construction sites in preparation with what all is to come in 2019 & 2020. That means Detours, Excessive Wait Times, and Ride Closures.
The Walt Disney Company has just announced they are closing two attractions at the Magic Kingdom for a little while to accommodate the construction of TRON (going adjacent to Space Mountain). The two attractions closing will be the Walt Disney World Railroad, and the Tomorrowland Speedway.

If you’re a railroad junkie like me, Disney announced that the Walt Disney World Railroad will temporarily pause operations, but the trains will be Parked at the Main Street Station beginning December 3, 2018. During this time, Magic Kingdom guests will be able to get an up-close look at the railroad and partake in rare photo opportunities. Disney has not released when they will reopen the Railway, but as they release more information we will keep you updated.
Next up, the Tomorrowland Speedway will close on January 2, 2019. The Speedway’s track will be re-routed and just slightly shortened. From what Disney said, “it will reopen as the same attraction our guests know and love in the summer of 2019” until May 18, 2019 to be exact. There was a rumor going around about the Speedway being taken down permanently, but now we can shut that rumor down because Tomorrowland Speedway is here to Stay!
If you’re planning a trip to Disney and want to see these attractions, I hope this helps you out a little for scheduling when to come.
As for TRON the roller coaster I am HIGHLY anticipating its completion, but is well worth the wait. Below is a photo of the new renderings, and I cannot wait to see it come to life. I will be sure to keep you guys updated on the construction so be sure to stay tuned and check back for new photos and videos!
