Sea World San Antonio celebrates its 2019 season in a big way; by adding two new rides, a new slide tower in the waterpark, and an all new turtle habitat for guests to enjoy!
Turtle Reef is the all new area being opened in 2019. The area will include new animal exhibits, rides, food, and seating areas. The highlight of the new area is the 126,000-gallon turtle environment.
The new area will also be home to two new family attractions; Riptide Rescue and Sea Swinger.
Riptide Rescue: Guets will board rescue boats and will be swung and spin around on their very own turtle rescue mission.
Sea Swinger: Guests will board a pendulum style attraction and hang on for a thrill ride like no other in the area.
Chris Havel, senior aquarist at SeaWorld San Antonio has this to say about the new expansion:
“Our guests not only will learn about amazing sea turtles but also how all of us can improve ocean health,” “One big way is to keep plastics out of the aquatic environment. Thus, it’s no coincidence that almost a decade ago SeaWorld started limiting plastics in its parks.”

Just like in Orlando, San Antonio will finally be able to break away and fall free on the all new, ” Ihu’s Breakaway Falls”.
In the press release Carl Lum, park president of SeaWorld & Aquatica San Antonio said:
“With the addition of Turtle Reef, Riptide Rescue, Sea Swinger and Ihu’s Breakaway Falls, we’re continuing our commitment of investing in new, innovative experiences year after year, we’re continuing to add new attractions and experiences for all ages.”
While not much information on the new slide tower has been released yet, we are assuming it will be very similar to the popular high-thrill slides at the Orlando location.
