“Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland” – A Drive-Through Light Show in Butler
If you spend your winters up north you must know of the popular drive-thru Christmas light attractions. This year “Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland” is taking over the Butler Fairgrounds located just outside of Pittsburgh.
Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland is located at the Butler County Fairgrounds at 1127 New Castle Road, Prospect, PA and is open from mid-November to early-January.
Because I was visiting the North for family and Christmas, this was a perfect thing for us all to do together. As we arrived at the light show we could see hundreds of lights dancing along the fields, but had to turn around because the entrance wasn’t well lit and we drove right past it.
After we found the right place to be there was an abundance of people. Just to get into the entrance there was a double lane line that was about a mile long filled with bumper to bumper traffic. There are also little to no opportunities to bail if you change your mind, and there are no porta-potties are available if you gotta go.
Along the way you have the opportunity to talk to the cars next to you (that is how fast the line moves) in our case, we had some great people who carried on a conversation up until the entrance.
After finally arriving at the entrance it’s time to tune your radio to 88.9 FM and time to watch the show!
The first half of the show is choreographed lights to the music playing on your car radio, and the second half is a light display that depicts popular nursery rhymes and fairy tales like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Rapunzel, Santa Safari, and more.
