Spaceship Earth To Close For Over Two Years For Refurbishment

spaceship earth, Epcot, future worldWith Epcot being the most “retro” WDW park, imagineers could have this changing very very soon. Above is the concept art for Project Gamma; a completely new take on Epcot.

We first found out about this Walt Disney World News Today, and with a little research have found out what could be inshore for the iconic attraction. Coming to Epcot “Project Gamma” this project will entail a full overhaul of the park entrance along with the central part of Future World. In this refurbishment Spaceship Earth will close from early 2020 until Epcot’s 40th Anniversary in the second half of 2020, according to WDW News Today. That is almost two and a half years without the beloved spaceship earth, but I know the imagineers will make it much better.

There is also rumors of a full projection mapped show to take place on the giant sphere during the downtime. This would make for a stunning show, and help bring life to the attraction while no rides are being given.

What do you think about the closing? Are you excited to see new things come, or sad to see the classic go? Let us know in the comments! As further news develops we will keep you updated!
